I have a BSc in Civil Engineering with specialisation in Management from Glasgow University. I also worked, after graduation, as a Royal Engineer within the British Army.

Civil Engineering is a wide ranging subject. Principally it covers construction and large building projects. For example building: bridges, office blocks, highways and intersections, sports stadiums, dams, power stations, railways, tunnels, pipelines, etc. It also deals with the design of less tangable things such as traffic management (e.g. timing trafficlights).

A student studying Civil Engineering would read subjects as diverse as Mathematics, Structural Engineering (mainly Newtonian Physics), Geology, Hydraulics, Transport, Surveying, and Management skills.
