There are 37 people who registered as Engineering Editors in the CZ ... and presumably did so because they wished to contribute and participate.

However, over the past 5 or 6 months, only 2-3 editors have been active in contributing and editing engineering articles. Would all of the registered Editors please start contributing and editing? Today?
PLEASE, we need you !!!!

Mainly because I haven't seen any activity.  Also a time issue.

Bryan,

I'm an engineering, computers and military editor, as well as an author there and other groups.  While I've started putting civil aviation into Engineering, there actually is a lot of material on helicopters and especially electronics and weapons in Military. Just as there is potential for a Military History subgroup, maybe we should have Military Engineering.

Prime Minister, you can't take the bull by the horns if you're grasping the nettle. I mean, if you grasped the nettle with one hand, you could take the bull by one horn with the other hand, but not by both horns because your hand wouldn't be big enough, and if you took a bull by only one horn it would be rather dangerous because...' That's fine, but I just haven't seen any movement around here for almost 2 years.  I'm also an editor on Wiki.  I guess I can help write with articles, but I'm not an author, and the engineering section as a whole appears to need leadership.  I browse many pages that are just empty.

Could you clarify what you mean by an empty page? Are you referring to definition-only or something else?

Could there be a question of workgroup assignment? For example, I note that you have a background in military rotary-wing aircraft. I've written on air assault both in concept and in specific warfare, military helicopters (and avionics and weapons systems), etc., but I've put them only in the Military workgroup, unless there is a specific civil (or dual use) aspect, such as in air navigation systems.

What do you see as a leadership role?

Then I still don't understand what you want done; not that others aren't trying.

Well I guess I'm not too experienced in deciding what articles are needed.  If there were a list maybe I could work from that.  Smiley

Fair enough.  On a "core" level, I've been backfilling on tools, manufacturing techniques, etc.  The sort of machining that goes into airfoils might be of interest. Aviation materials and fasteners -- it ought to be in my blood, since my mother ran the airframe maintenance school at Pensacola in WWII, but it's not.

There's certainly a lot of material on aviation, including tactical aspects of helicopters, in the Military Workgroup, which could be expanded. If one wanted a specific system, the Osprey is something I've been scared to touch.
