webcitation.org

I'd like to build support for using webcitation.org in all CZ articles, and include use of it as part of CZ's Article Mechanics. The rationale for doing so is obvious, just visit http://www.webcitation.org to see.

I propose the archived version of web cites be cleverly placed in the citation in the form

http://sfaa.net/sfaagoal.html. [http://www.webcitation.org/5NlTkfKJa Archived] March 31, 2007.

Essentially, a link "Archived" would replace plain text "Accessed".  http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Anthropology#References has an example.

CZ Tech has already been in contact with webcitation.org to get a dialog going.

I like the idea of having web citations archived as it is being done through webcitation.org.  However, after looking through their membership list I only found 2 not biology related members:
    http://informationr.net/ir/ - Information Research
    and
    http://www.colorado.edu/law/jthtl/ - Journal of Telecommunications and Technology Law

I did not probe deeply into how they are expanding their membership.  The concept is great but the webcitation.org site is not "wide" enough.  If we can help spread the word or get other journals / blogs / news organizations / etc... it may help.  But I can see lots of problems trying to implement outside of the Biology workgroup.
