The "family-friendly" policy is part of an overall atmosphere of professionalism on CZ. It does not preclude topics so much as it precludes styles, and yes, these are subjective and yet- in the international literature of professionals, there is a working standard of what is acceptable. I think that, generally, if an article is written and illustrated in a manner that would be acceptable to mainstream professional journals in that area, then it would meet the "family friendly" policy. I wonder what Larry thinks?  Cheesy

I think you have stated a very good criteria to determine the family-friendliness of an article: Would this article be acceptable to a mainstream academic journal?

Well, you've hit upon a criterion that I might be comfortable with, and an excellent place to begin a discussion, anyway.
