What should be done with the article Malo (single)? All of the information on it is 1) Describing it as a hit single by Bebe and 2) lyrics

I think we could do a bit of investigation: how good is Wikipedia at producing a full set of articles about pop songs?  If they aren't even close to having a full complement of such articles--even top 10 songs, say--then I'd say that's evidence that this sort of project isn't really set up to do a good job with all the articles needed to make a full set of articles about top pop songs.  And in that case, I'd be in favor of deleting [[Malo (single)]].

I would agree with Larry here.  There are certain resources, such as the IMdB, online lyrics archives, metacritic, etc. which simply do what they do better and more dynamicaly than WP or CZ could do; we would end up just being poor cousins.  Song lyrics can also bring potential copyright issues with them.

I think that singles of a band's music should not have any entry unless the particular song had some history, or social impact, or caused such a dust-up that it is worth its own entry.  Some examples might be: Ice-T's band Body Count's recording of "Cop Killer," Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance," or Elton John's Princess-Di-tribute remake of "Candle in the Wind."  Others should be cut, or if the information is valuable, moved to the main article on the musician or band.

Just now, I've taken the WP entry for the single "Mongoloid" by Devo and brushed it up and brought it into CZ Live.  I wrote portions of the original WP version, and as the producer of one of the cover versions mentioned in the entry, I feel a connection with it.  I think it's a reasonable example of a song which, because of its subject material, its video and cover versions, and its impact is worth its own artice.

Check out the article Mongoloid (song) on CZ (or WP, at the moment it is very similar).  It was one of the key songs of the early punk era.

Saint billy, I am not sure that is very relevant to this topic.

Well, I'm not necessarily making an argument that Mongoloid (song) is a great or even a good single, just a significant one and an example of one worth having an independent article, rather than just being listed under the entry for the group Devo. Smiley

I'd like  to know, though, what sort of musical articles Music editors and authors might like to collaborate on.  My own background in music is in many areas; I was trained in classical piano as a child, performed as a lutenist and guitarist as a young adult, and became a Hip-hop radio host and academic writer on Hip-hop culture and history later in life.

Perhaps we might look at articles on musical styles or genres (Punk, Blues, Bhangra)?  Or artists (Chuck D, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan), or perhaps instruments (guitar, turntable, lute, banjo)?

I'd like to know what expertise is out  there.
