Hi,

I started tagging articles as in the "Biology Workgroup" category, then reread the workgroup page and realized that we're only supposed to tag articles that haven't been tagged "Live" in the "Biology Workgroup (Top)". I can very easily untag the articles that aren't already tagged as live, but many of them are probably ones we would want to go after quickly anyways, so I thought I'd find out what to do.

here's the articles I tagged:

artificial selection
biodiversity
domestication
genetic engineering
genotype
landrace
phenotype
progeny
species
subspecies
transgenic plant

Tagging seemed like a good idea since I didn't want to start making little changes to the articles that will probably be rewritten or at least majorly revised soon, but I managed to do that wrong  Tongue haha

Also, while you're here, does anyone have anything that needs doing in the biology realm? I've been steering away from the major biology articles until someone (with more expertise than myself) at least lays out how they should be.

So far I've only just started touching the WP articles I had worked on and watched. I can keep doing this, but I was wondering if there was anything else I could help with, since there's a lot of setup work going on.

Thanks  Smiley

Generally, I think we should tag articles like this (I must put this on the wiki somewhere--be my guest, please):

(1) All articles we're working on: CZ Live

(2) Subset of top articles in a certain area: X Workgroup (Top)

(3) The rest of the articles in that area: X Workgroup

Also, please don't stand upon ceremony and wait for top-down orders.  This is a bottom-up project.  If you can improve the WP articles, then by all means, take a crack at them.  If an editor finds they can still be improved, though, don't be hurt if they do get improved.

Ok, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing before I continued tagging a bunch articles for the workgroup. I guess I'll just keep doing what I feel like I should do since it's been working so far.

As far as waiting for orders, I just meant to ask if there was anything anyone needed me for other than working on random articles.

Thanks again, I thought I was going right, but wanted to check in. The starting guide and information found in CZ made it pretty clear what direction I should be going in at least. But it's nice to check in and make sure at least once, especially without anything to follow really so far.

Hi Robert, i agree these article look like the ones we should be working on. The list of high priority article on the biology workgroup page is definitely a work in progress with many holes with respect to articles and hierarchial structure, also as articles that should be cut from the list. I think as a group we should be adding and deleting from this list to narrow our focus.  Obviously we all have a different idea of what is important so everyone should be adding their favourites to the list.  And don't be shy about striking out others that you think should not be a high priority.

Yes, the list was originally just copied from a WP list, and is only meant as a starting point. I agree that it one of us is actively working on an article, as distinguished from intending to work on it, that article should be added to the priority list if it isn't there already. I was about to say "should sign up for it" but writing is not exclusive; we want to be considerate, but this remains a wiki, and nobody owns an article (I think)--though I would certainly say that we should allow people to be relatively undisturbed. WP has a box for that, but the longest length of time is 2 hours. I would suggest up to 24 hours.

These are all articles I'm keen to work on and are worthy of high priority.

I would interpret striking out as literally that with the <s> and </s> tags. Someone else may think some of them  worthwhile.
