I suppose that I could use Common.js to create a mostly-javascript-based wizard, which would have several steps but not have to load any more pages.
For those without JavaScript, it would look something like Wizard 1, for those with something like Wizard 2.

I think it's pretty much complete now, except for the option for uploading images from websites such as Commons and Flickr, which doesn't work yet (I think it might need another question page before the upload form for that option).
I'd appreciate it if everyone could have a look and give me feedback. Thanks!

I like it, but at the same time I say de gustibus non disputandum.

Good. Smiley
I have moved the new wizard to CZ:Upload (the old one is still at CZ:Upload Wizard), so that when we're all ready it can just be enabled instantly by changing MediaWiki:Upload-url.

I think the wizard itself is pretty much complete, though I will need to make some modifications to the final form to add an explanation of how to fill out the image details, like there was before.
Apart from that, can anyone see anything which needs to be changed before the new wizard goes live?

I think the new upload wizard is pretty much completed - I have made a lot of changes since last posting here.

I would like to issue a final call for comments before going live.

Barring the discovery of any major bugs, the new wizard will go live later today or tomorrow morning.

Very nice java work Ceasar.  Smiley  I wish I knew how to do that.   Wink

I would only point out that icons are very useful, since they work with how humans comprehend to provide visual shortcut cues without having to read text.  This is why designers use icons for your computer desktop rather than text entries alone.  This is strongly research-based.

Thanks Stephen.  Grin

I agree about icons, but only if they all clearly represent the option they are for.
I'll try to find a suitable set of icons for every option, and then I'll add them later.

Everyone:
The new wizard isn't live yet because I have to get an admin to change a system variable. It will be live as soon as that happens.
