While obviously it wasn't my work alone, I'm happy to report that I just saved & jogged the article that took Live Articles to 10,500.
Now, that being said, it is my hope that certain articles, which just really aren't free-standing as maintainable articles, or are no more than bibliographic notes that, in my view, exist as book articles only to increase the visibility of a particular agenda, get merged (where possible) and deleted. We won't lose count for long; there are other articles almost ready to post.
Really, I'm not trying to be argumentative about this. I will simply say that I believe that some articles that variably are very stale on current events and not maintainable in present form, or are perceived as fringe, are hurting recruiting. In my direct experience, I've had colleagues decline to join when they found things they considered sloppy (i.e., talking about live person matters in 2007 but not updating the legal status) or fringe positions. Others have told me, in email, they have had similar problems. As some may know, when another Citizen mentioned to me that one of my starting articles, on a matter where I do not claim to be an expert, was part of the reason one of his colleagues declined to join, I took that article to userspace. I do not ask any more quality control than I ask of myself; there are things I have in sandboxes, or even in word processors offline because I know they are not up to minimum post quality.
Let's get the numbers up, but with articles that attract people. In recent things of mine, both in computers and politicomilitary, I've been very extensively crosslinking and using Related Articles, so I can show off our navigation advantage over The Other Place.
