In addition to articles on the major disciplines, I think we should also make the main focuses of those disciplines top priority.  In the case of Biology, that would be Life itself.

Along the same line of thinking , the articles about the subject are generally more intrinsically interesting than articles about the scholastic discipline, and should IMHO be prioritized higher. Eg Microorganisms before Microbiology

Nancy of course proved this wrong with Biology, but Life is worthy of attention.

I do not see how a biology group could write an article on "life", We could write about origin of life, we could write about the change in understanding of what things were living, but I see this as a meta-biological topic.

It's just a question of definition, I actually started some edits on the CZ pilot, the article "Life",  defining "life" as meaning the same as living things, or the processes by which living things remain alive. Take a look at the discussion page. I think it could be a very interesting article, as it could look at (1) what is the difference between living and dead things (2) what is the difference between living and inanimate things, and those issues could encompass informative essays on how a person is declared dead (which would touch on law), how viruses and prions fit (or don't fit) into a scheme of living things (which would encompass some chemistry) , etc. In other words, this article would be Life from a biological point of view, and defined that way from the outset.

Nancy, of course I agree with you, and with Larry's sense of importance in putting up a 'Life' article.  I believe we now have the core of a 'Life' article that we could approve as a starter.  Actually, a jump-starter, because having it up and approved may stimulate a broader collaborative effort in the Life/draft version.

Please take a look at the current version, with its related images, and consider nominating it.
