Churchill:  Madam, if I were your husband, I'd drink it!

Welcome! My historical interests are on the military side, especially the technological and doctrinal aspects.

Prime Minister, you can't take the bull by the horns if you're grasping the nettle. I mean, if you grasped the nettle with one hand, you could take the bull by one horn with the other hand, but not by both horns because your hand wouldn't be big enough, and if you took a bull by only one horn it would be rather dangerous because...' Hello Workgroup.

I have a range of interests in North American and Western European history.  I don't want to start new articles in new subject areas, rather I am interested in enhancing subjects which already have articles.  However, because the history coverage is sparse I am finding it difficult to find articles which have been written in subject areas where I have both knowledge and interest.

Hi Richard,
Do your interests include Native American history?  With an interest in the 19th century, I would guess so.

I've been meaning to start some work on biographies of people like Charles Eastman and cover some major events but haven't really gotten around to it.  I'm sure I would be more motivated if I had an enthusiastic collaborator on a few of those.

Hi, all

My name's David Barrett, and I'm a generalist. (Sounds like I'm in one of those self-help groups - and given the opinion of certain "neo" thinkers on the humanities, maybe it is!)

I worked as an editor and designer in book publishing for about 15 years before moving into teaching history and English at high school level in Australia.

If there's an area I specialise in by default, it's probably 20th-century Australian history and its global context, simply because that's what I teach most. But I'm interested in any and all history as long as it doesn't get too economic on me - apologies to all economic historians, but I find that particular field the intellectual equivalent of chewing on a spoonful of dust.

I'm hoping to be able to use my expertise in editing and teaching to add something here, and look forward to working with you all!

Hi, David, welcome aboard!  To conform to our rules for participants in these forums, would you kindly go to the little tab in the middle of the page that says Profile, then scroll on down to the bottom of the screen and where it says Signature, put in something more or less like:

My CZ user page: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/User:Your_CZName

This will enable your profile to be viewed by anyone who reads one of your messages here in the Forums.

Thanks!

Thanks for that, Haydon! I hate breaching etiquette, even if inadvertently.

Cheers!
