Just saw this come up on Larry Lessig's blog -
Enormously important news from the Free Software Foundation.
What this might mean for Citizendium is that if the Wikipedia community agrees, Wikipedia articles may end up being cross-licensed as CC Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 - the license we use on Citizendium. Meaning that any legal barrier to importing Wikipedia articles would drop away.
As it's the Wikimedia Foundation who have asked the FSF to push this through, it means that it's pretty likely that quite shortly Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects that are currently FDL licensed will be cross-licensed under CC-BY-SA. At least that's how this seems to me, a total non-expert. (I am not a lawyer. I'm just a guy on the Internet.)
Can someone who knows what they are talking about elucidate what this might mean for us?
