I'd like to start discussion on getting the Buddhism article into shape. After nearly a week nobody's responded to my post on the talk page, so I'm trying here. Excuse me if I'm unfamiliar with the proper procedures, but I'm new here. ~~~~

Hi, Peter, Welcome aboard! To conform to our rules for participants in these Forums, would you kindly go to the little tab in the middle of the page that says Profile, then scroll on down to the bottom of the screen and where it says Signature, put in something more or less like: My CZ user page: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/User:Your_CZNameThis will enable your profile to be easily viewed by anyone who reads one of your messages here in the Forums. And thereby enables us, up to a point, at least, to make some sort of initial judgment about how much credence/deference/respect/belief/etc./etc. to give to anything you happen to post.... Thanks! Hayford

Peter, as a reader, I would first want to know about Buddhism today, what it is, the beliefs, practices, rituals, "denominations" or "sects", etc, with a hint of history. Subsequent paragraphs could then explain history and the splintering off of sects through the ages. Just my opinion, I won't be working on the article at all except reading for typos later

Hi Peter, I guess there are not too many religion authors here. But if you're looking for style input I think what David mentioned above is useful.

I was hoping for some other people with some knowledge of the subject. I've looked through the editors & Robert Stockman has taught Buddhism, though it's not his main subject, and some others mention comparative religion. I haven't tried looking through all the authors. I know there are some with an interest as they've commented on the talk page in the past. Basically, I'd like to have all interested parties around simultaneously to work together, rather than my having to do a lot of work on my own & then find other people turn up & tear it apart later.

Multiple people working on something tends to lead to many edit conflicts, the computer kind when people submitted changes to old version. Go ahead and work away on it, and others can go over and try to improve it later. Be bold and type away.

Hi, Peter, I think that you probably have to take the brackets away from you signature in order for it to work properly.
Thanks,
Hayford

Those of you who've looked at the talk page in question will know that what I'm trying to settle first is the overall structure of the article. It's not just a matter of modification, so I'd like those with opinions to give them before I start. However, if nobody turns up over the weekend I'll just get on with it.

Hi Peter,
It still doesn't work -- for some reason it goes to "User:Peter" instead of "User:Peter Jackson". You must have excluded the "Jackson" somehow....

You must have excluded the "Jackson" somehow.... No its still there but needs to be connected to the User:Peter by an underscore rather than a space.
