Here i got some quick ideas and want to share it with CZ community.

1) We, Citizens, insist on shoulder-to-shoulder collaboration and extreme tolerance to each other. That means, roughly speaking, equality. But here in Citizendium forum every person has a forum message counter and number of stars, that represents his activity in forum. I think it would be good to disable these features from user posts; let it remain only on user profile. This action will prevent winding post quantity.

2) As CZ grows, it will achieve more and more arrivals and guests. Most of the latter will not register, i think, so why not to make some kind of a form, where one can right his:
1. Complains about CZ (it is sometimes bureaucratic to make a proposal or something);
2. Complains about articles (it is not just basic "Oh, article sucks", but also "minor edits" complains, that someone registered can do, but guest can't).

So, what do you think?

PS: Please, check the link from CZ to forum, it must be "forum.citizendium.org", not "forums.*"

I think this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I've been here a year and a half and I see no evidence that anyone has ever been writing messages to the Forums just in order to build up his/her message-count number. The sort of people who, so far at least, are active in CZ, are not the sort of people to waste their time on trivialities such as this.

On your post, Mirzhan:

1.  Larry's always been dead set against competitive type editing just for the sake of it, and just about everybody seems to agree with him.  You won't find 'List of Top Citizens by Number of Edits'  etc. here because our interest is quality of work.  We all come to know who produces top quality articles and editing and maintenance and support. How *many* items they do is immaterial.  We don't care, so it isn't a problem, as Hayford says.

2.  Yes, you're not the first to think of these sorts of issues.  I'm no good at remembering threads, but a couple of them exist, if you want to have a search.  I think that, basically, that though they have merit, the minuses outweighed the pluses.

Questions are good, though--don't be afraid to keep 'em coming!

1. First of all i never meant that Citizens are winding posts/edits, i'm saying that someone can do so. Just because post count isn't needed/essential, why not to cover it?

2. Yes, Aleta, i didn't use search )=. Hate me. Here i found some discussions.
http://forum.citizendium.org/index.php/topic,1226.0.html - Paul Wormer, Advantage of WP over CZ.
http://forum.citizendium.org/index.php/topic,1585.0.html - Warren Schudy, Technical help wanted on design of feedback proposal
Warren Schudy also made a proposal: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Proposals/Enable_external_feedback.
Now i'm going to think about and discuss the proposal.
The 2nd question is closed (=.

1.  One thing is, that's probably justthe way the forum software is set up; and two--just because we can do something doesn't mean that we will.  I *could* throw myself off the Shoalhaven Gorge in response to the current pain in my finger.  Rather an extreme solution, wouldn't you say?

I could, if I can say this without souding braggardly, have lots of boyfriends on the side.  But would I?  Certainly not, never even a question.  For one thing, I've never been so inclined, so it's easy for me and it's all moot, for another, even were I so inclined my moral code tells my husband doesn't desewrve such shabby treatment, and if all that weren't enough, I know my husband would leave me at once were I caught, no negotiations, to my immediate disadvantage, so my instinct for self-preservation would keep me from being so b* stupid.

All that to say that even if one wanted to start oneupsmanships at CZ; there's no point.

2.  No sweat.  Nobody likes wading though searches!  But I'm certain that there's at least one thread with this specific discussion and actual posting back and forth; if I find it I'll let you know.
