I see a lot of articles which are probably at the wrong name (because we're just getting started, I think this is more common), and rather than Be Arrogant and just rename them on the spot, I like to drop a note on the talk: page and come back later and see what people think. Problem: I often forget about them! I'd like to create a [[Category:Rename suggested]] (if you have a better suggest, I will happily take it), and tag all such articles with it (on their talk: pages). Sound like a good idea?

Sounds good to me. We're not supposed to just add categories, so I guess this is as good a place as any to ask???

We could have it as a field in the metadata?

My first reaction is to say that it's not worth it (extra code in the templates, etc) for just a few pages which only have it temporarily. It's not like the 'undergoing approval' stuff, which is also temporary, because it's orthogonal to everything else in the metadata (unlike the approval stuff), and we don't need to store additional data (dates, who did it, etc).

The potential advantage is that it could go into the To Do list.  This might bring it to the attention of other readers is a way a category at the bottom would not.

Having singlehandedly run WP:RfD for some years, I'd be happy to take on the responsibility for dealling with things in the 'suggested rename' category! :-)

Seriously though, I really don't think it will see enough use to make it worth the work it would take to do it in the metadata, especially since a category would do it trivially. (Unlike, say, subGroups, which really do have to have metadata support.)

Well in that case you should probably do what you think is the most effiecient.  And as always, it will evolve as we have more experience with the renaming issues.  I like the idea of a category, even if the goal is to keep it underpopulated.

OK, nobody having objected, I'll do this 'soon'.
