My idea is not computer translation. Idea is translation by peoples, but 1:1 - every sentence to be translated on place (not as Wikipedia in different set of wiki pages).
I don't think that's viable. First of all, it constrains the other languages to being merely copies of english version. We'd be doing a disservice to the considerable body of people who are very intelligent but don't speak English natively. And that would be hundreds or thousands of Germans, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Russians, or whoever, who would be reduced to being translators instead of writers. We'd also impose a large burden in terms of requiring the editors of those foreign language wikis to provide English versions. That's double the work for them, and just simply not viable. And could you imagine when we have (say) 10 languages? You make one edit to an article, and you've got to translate it 10 times.
I think that when we get foreign language wikis, they should feel free to translate our English articles, but they shouldn't have to.
