It seems to me that once this flag is set on an article, it shouldn't be possible for an ordinary author to clear it (whether it should take an editor in that workgroup, or a constable, I have no definite opinion on yet). As it stands, it's just too easy for a stray mouse-click to clear what is, after all, a fairly significant legal requirement for us. Also, any changes to this flag should be logged. (Not sure if they are already.)

Yes, I know this will take developer time/energy to make happen, but I think it should get added to the list. (Do we have any active developers at the moment? If not, maybe I'd better learn PHP...)

the more people who can dev, the better probably.  If you have the desire, I would say start learning.  Even if you don't end up doing major dev, you'd still be able to help with the discussions over technical issues.  However, ask the tech experts and admins first for better advice.

Oh, I don't know about that.  If the author of a work at WP comes along and wants to replace it with WP Author, should they have to contact an editor to do so?  Also, if Ms Intelligent Ordinary Author chucks out the whole WP mess and starts over, no flag is needed.

I do think it would be a good idea to simply have a way to log changes to articles so flagged, though.

How about if the flag is unset, have the software ask the Citizen who made the change for confirmation? That would prevent accidents without adding a bureaucratic headache.

I don't think this is worth implementing soon.

The software could automatically clear the flag if the article is blanked.

Maybe that's all we need.
