Steve Ewen has completely blocked me because of a dispute between the two of us. Is that not a violation os Constable rules? Angry

User Richard Jensen is blocked

I might be wrong, but I think Steven was incorrect to block you according to the Constable guidelines - He was personally involved in a dispute between the two of you, wasn't he? Then he should have invited someone else to discuss the block. Anyway, I think I've stuck my neck out a little too much!

Rather than take sides in this matter, I think it is very important that one of our most respected editors and one of our most respected constables should make their peace. The disagreement between them is not personal, although it has become a personalized fight, and it should be a matter of CZ policy which is open to all to debate. That is why I created the topic in Legal Issues:

http://forum.citizendium.org/index.php/topic,1172.0.html

although Stephen has claimed that it is more about public perception of CZ than our legal obligations.

Precisely! Richard Jensen and Stephen are two of our most valuable members - I'd hate to see either of them blocked unless absolutely necessary.

Very brief explanation. As the rest were sleeping, I blocked him lest there have been a mess to clean up in the morning.

Personally, I have no doubts about your good intent, Stephen. Whether it was the right thing to do is more debatable  Smiley

I've started a discussion with the Executive Committee and the Constabulary about this, and, if I have some help, we'll be clarifying policy in various ways that will help prevent such future unpleasantness.  I want to underscore my strong agreement with this:

serious action should be taken.  It really isn't a big deal to wait a few hours.

Well, let me make it clear that no action whatsoever is going to be taken regarding either Ewen or Jensen.  This is something we chalk up to a learning experience.
