What is the advantage/use of marking articles as "live"? And who does it? I created 16 new articles the last couple of days and only one got the live mark. Paul

Hi Paul, go to the talk page on the one that is marked live and you'll probably notice a checklist.  This is how the articles get categorized. I expect your other new articles do not have a checklist and you may want to add one.  The person who filled out the checklist probably added the live category to your one "live" article too (just a guess on my part). "Live", just denotes that the article is a citizendium product rather than a direct import from wikipedia or like.  It is actually redundant with the category "internal article" that is generated by the checklist and since the live category must be added manually it is likely to become obsolete in the near future. Does this help?

We are about to launch a subpages strategy where no categories are added manually. It would be good for you to familiarize yourself with the checklist though since all the categories in the future will be placed automatically depending on the information in the checklist.

The article is "Netherlands" and its talk page is still empty. I understand that there should be a checklist in it? Then the next question is: what is the use of the checklist? Paul

Above is the edit where the categories were added.  You can find this info in the history.

The checklist is important since it will be used to designate the workgroup categories and the status of the article (stub or approved etc.) The information in the checklist (part of an articles metadata set, see Template:New York City/Metadata for an example) will be used in conjunction with the subpages template.  See the New York City article for an example of the end product.  All the categories in the article are determined by reading the checklist data.

Thank you for your help, I'm  starting  to see the light. Two more questions if you don't mind:
(i) I now include checklist templates via the clipboard (c-c and c-v).  Is this the most convenient way?
(ii) Do I understand correctly that including the catogories in the main article is less important than including the checklist in the discussion page?
Thanks again, Paul.

For the time being, we continue the duplication of effort by having to put the categories in the checklist on the talk page and on the main article. However, once we finalise the system of the subpages template, one or other of these will become redundant. Which is not finalised yet, but it looks like the checklist will stay and the main article categories will be automated. However, that is still to be decided officially, so we still do both.
